Corregidor is an island that belongs to Cavite (according to our tour guide), which was the last military bastion during the Japanese invasion in 1942. It is just an hour away from CCP, Pasay, by cruise. So when my parents saw a sale Corregidor Island tour (P1700 from P2500 regular rate) from Sun Cruise Tours last Travel Expo, they decided to take us on one of the most historic islands of the Philippines.

1. Corregidor and it’s still evident war remnants
Yes, we knew that we became a part of World War II in our history class. But it was all just stories we heard and taught until you saw the ruins still evident everywhere on this island. We might not be able to experience the war first hand but witnessing the war remnant of once a cinema house, library, bowling alley, and military barracks will make your heart sink. The battle was real, and a Corregidor Island Tour will remind you of the severity of it.
2. CORREGIDOR ISLAND AND ITS GORGEOUS VIEWS
The island is well-maintained and beautiful. And I didn’t expect it to be like that, for I thought the island was all about war. The sea, as well, is clean and blue.

There is a resort on the island that can accommodate you overnight if you wanted a full Corregidor experience. The island is gorgeous and Instagram-worthy. But let me warned you that there were numerous ghost stories shared on travel groups regarding this experience.
6. Malinta Tunnel show
Hear the real voices of the prominent people during Japanese invasions like President Quezon, Mac-Arthur, and Sato and the events that happened in Malinta Tunnel. Just be careful because it’s too dark and creepy somehow.
7. CORREGIDOR ISLAND TOUR IS an excellent family BONDING
You know what they say, a family that travels together, stays together. It is a place where any age will learn and enjoy.
8. Museums and memorials
The museums on the island hold a lot of war stories and remnants that are interesting to know. I saw money, guns, pins, military uniforms, dining set, and even their alcoholic drinks used during the war—also, a lot of photos that you’ll never saw in our Hekasi books.
9. Visit the monument of July 4 Friendship Day.
In this monument in Corregidor, there’s a disabled Filipino soldier that was helped by an American. But my tour guide said that there’s another same monument in Georgia, USA, where the crippled soldier is an American and the one helping is a Filipino.
10. Ride a cruise!!!

11. CORREGIDOR AS AN INSTAGRAM BACKDROP
There are so many gorgeous spots on the island that are so Instagram-worthy.
12. Corregidor makes you appreciate the freedom we have today.
The place is a reminder that a lot of soldiers fought and sacrificed for our country. Our country may not be in a literal war now, but she is still struggling in the hands of selfish people, and we should always fight for her and the freedom our heroes and soldiers fought back then.

I have never been to Corregidor yet and I would love to go there soon whenever I can . I hope that I can get a cheap boat ticket as well. Lovely photos!
